After a while, when you have sent a few mails, you might notice a red cross (x) next to the name of a list or an email address.

When an email address is marked with a red cross, it has been deactivated due to bounces. This i what happens when an email address does not exist.

When you see a red cross next to the name of the list, it´s because the contact has chosen to cancel their subscription.

When a contact is marked with a red cross, they will no longer receive any mails, and so you might find it worth your while to delete those contacts.

Before you delete contacts with red crosses

  •  When you navigate to "Contacts", you can delete the email address.

  • When you navigate to "Subscriptions", you can only delete the subscription, not the email address.

  • Before you delete anything, remember to export the information you wish to save.

How to delete contacts with red crosses

In order to delete contacts marked with a red cross, follow the steps below.

  1. Navigate to "Contacts".

  2. Filter on contacts without a subscription, "Contacts" > "Filter" > "Show contacts without a subscription".

  3. If you find any contacts, click on "Choose action" and decide if you would like to export or add any subscriptions before you delete the contacts.

  4. When you have deleted the contacts without a subscription, navigate to "Contacts" > "Filter" > "Inactive contacts".

  5. If you find any contacts, click on "Choose action..." > "Delete" in order to delete the contacts that are no longer active. If you would like to export, click on "Choose action..." > "Export".

  6. When you have deleted inactive contacts, navigate to "Contacts" > "Subscriptions

  7. Filter on contacts that have cancelled their subscription - "Filter" > "Cancelled".

  8. If you find any contacts, click on "Choose action..." > "Delete" in order to delete subscriptions for those who have unsubscribed. If you would like to export, click on "Choose action..." > "Export"
